Monte Gordo

The beach at monte Gordo is part of the history of many Portuguese families who have spent their vacations here and perpetuate this custom for generations, having grown as a tourist destination also for foreigners.

Only 3 km from Vila Real de Santo António, this former fishing village, situated between a vast pine forest and the sea, was a pioneer in tourism in the Algarve, with the construction of one of the first hotels in the region in the 1960s. Currently, it is an unavoidable ex-libris of national tourism.

Although it is known as a strong tourist attraction, Monte Gordo maintains its essence as a fishing village and retains an important part of its natural heritage. In summer, the hustle and bustle caused by vacationers contrasts with the fishing boats that circulate between the sea, bend at Ponta da Areia and sail up the Guadiana.

The beach is framed by the lively avenue marginal, in Portuguese sidewalk, with landscaped spaces and multiple tourist equipment. Besides the extension of the beach, Monte Gordo offers various leisure activities, such as the Casino and a large number of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the Algarve cuisine, rich in fish and seafood.
